Memo of the Month

Memo of the Month Return-Path: <bobf> Date: Mon, From: bobf (Bob Frank) To: all@corsearch.com Subject: More on the phones 26 Aug 1996 23:02:29 -0400 I want to add some thoughts to Laura's...

...I am sorry to be so hard nosed about this but I have been here ?or 14 years, clearly have seniority over every employee at this company and I can often go a whole week or more without a personal call...
...even get one per week...
...If I can do it, so can you...
...That is too much disruption...
...And if we allow one per employee per day, what are we going to do when we have 100 employees...
...Maybe others are off work at that time but we have employess whose schedules are for them to be here at that time...
...If you (or your significant others regardless of gender) find it so important to engage in a conversation during the day, then get a beeper and a cell phone and make the calls on your own time (and your nickle...
...I expect personal calls to drop SIGNIFICANTLY...
...They too are not your secretaries or answering services...
...Also, I find it really offensive to have so many personal calls after 6 : O O PM...

...But with 50+ employees, 1 personal call per day per employee is, as Laura showed, over one personal call per ten minutes, all day long...
...It will probably be the last call you get at this office...
...First, I consider one personal call per day per employee to be too much--neither a minimum nor a maximum...
...You have got to be kidding me...
...have one call every five minutes...
...And just as I believe an example starts at the top on other matters, so does it start at the top on this matter...
...If I answer the phone after 6 : O O PM and it is a personal call (short of a real emergency), someone is not going to be happy...
...I often am here after 6:OO and I can tell each of you this now...
...I know many of you do not...
