...And a facsimile of the front page of La Follette's for March 12, 1910, on which appears a cartoon containing the figure of President Taft attempting to carry with him the Ballingers of the cabinet, the Aldriches of the Senate and the Cannons of the House, was also sent to the voters, with the following appeal: "Can a man who published the above cartoon justly demand or expect support for office from Wisconsin Republicans who retain a sense of decency and a spirit of loyalty to the party and of fair play to the party's leaders...
