...Our campaign must in the main be not one of .denial and defence, but a positive, aggressive, fundamental exposition arid advocacy of Socialism as we understand it—the Socialism of the Old Guard, if you like, which was Vthe Socialism of our party here in America in its moat glorious d*Vs, the Socialism which survived tjhe split of 1912 and the split of 1019|aod which is going to sur[ vive this pitiful little split of 1935 —the Socialism of Berger and Debs and Hanford, of Hillquit and London and Will Mailly—the Socialism of Bebel and Hardie and Guesde— the only Socialism which corresponds to the interests and aspiration* of the working class and' to the laws of economic evolution...
